The elementary school got to go on a field trip yesterday to the Corn Maize as a kick off for the accelerated reading program. H was very excited about it and had a great time. Sister K and I got go meet them there and help his teacher take some of the kids through the maize. I had 4 boys and Sister K. They had a wonderful time going through the maize and learning about corn and what they have in common with corn (they both have ears). At the maize there were also some animals. They had a covered pen with 2 turkeys, one really big one, a couple of hens and a rooster. All the kids were very impressed with the huge turkey they kept gobbling at him trying to make him gobble back at them, which he did a couple times. The turkey did not like it he had his feathers fluffed the whole time we were there. A couple of the kids got their finger pecked because they could not keep them out of the pen. They also had some goats, which the kids were not impressed with at all, mainly because they stayed in the house most of the time. And two piglets that were the next attraction. One of the pigs kept digging with it's nose right in the corner so the kids could touch it. H got bit by one. They had little maize out of hay bales they liked that as well they really wanted to climb on top of them but they could not so they hay would stay nice for everyone else. They also got to have a picnic which the kids liked and then they had to go back to school. I bet the teachers had a time trying to get them settled down after all the excitement. A new baby

Well we found out that we will be having our 4th child around March 31st. We are very excited and H & K are ready they think it will be a girl big R says a boy so we will see. We went to the doctor this past week and he said everything looks good.

Here are a couple of pictures shucking the corn we grew in our garden. They were taken about a month ago. H and K had a really good time. H would pull all the husks down and pretend it was a squid. He thought it was great. They have had a really good time with the garden especially the pumpkins. There is only 1 really big pumpkin and they think it is pretty cool.

Here are some pictures from H first day of kindergarten. He has been enjoying it very much and really likes his teacher. He is in basketball and has joined clover kids which is 4-H for younger kids. He has been keeping busy and seems to be learning a lot and making new friends, although he has a hard time remembering their names sometimes. His very favorite part of going to school is getting to ride the school bus to and from school. He get a little upset with me if I have to come and pick him up to go to karate or whatever it is that we need to do

H had his graduation for karate yesterday afternoon. He recieved his orange belt - which is the third belt at this school. He has really been enjoying it and wants to go for his black belt, so we will let him go as far as he wants to.

Kindergarten

Today was H's first day of kindergarten. He was very excited to be going to school. He had a very good day. He said they played outside a lot and walked around to the different rooms and the music room and they played a name game where they threw the ball around to the kids to learn their names. He was upset with me when I picked him up because he wanted to ride the bus. We talked to the head bus driver and he will be at our house at around 7:10 in the morning, so we will see how long H really wants to ride the bus getting up that early. He was very tired when he got home and took a nap for a little while then I had to wake him up to take little R to the Dr. and him to karate. We will see how the rest of the year goes, hopefully he will stay excited about going.

Our House

Some of you know that R and I bought a house a little while back. There were a couple of things that needed to be done before we could move in, like redo the bathroom. It is a three bedroom one bath and has 5 acres. We have been staying with my parents since R started working in January. We have enjoyed that very much (especially the kids) and they have been very patient with us staying there. Well we finally got to move into our house last week. H & K were very excited about sleeping at our new house because they have been wanting to sleep on their bunkbed since we moved back to Texas in December. So they have been happy to sleep in their own beds and we were happy to be out at our house so I could be getting things in order.

Little R

We had some sweet corn out of our garden tonight and it was pretty good. We gave little R a cob and he really enjoyed sucking all the juices out. He sucked on it for a long time. We all enjoyed it. H and K were excited last night because they got to pick their first little pumkins. They have really liked watching all the vegetables grow. H will eat the vegetables just because he grew them in his garden. K will only eat the corn, she is truely her daddy's girl - will not eat very many vegetables. Big R has been trying more vegetables though since we grew them.

Sunray Funday

We went to Sunray this weekend for Sunray Funday. The kids had a pretty good time. H and K got to ride in the Fire truck and throw candy for a little while, until the guys in the front ran out. H and K need to practice their candy throwing so the kids watching can get more. I did not get a good picture of K because they looked so sad when they pasted and I did not want them to be scared and not want to do it again. As it turns out they were just sad they did not have any candy. After the parade we went to the park and they had all kinds of entertainment for the kids and a BBQ. We got some BBQ and went back to nana and papa's house since nana needed to stay with great papa, the kids were also ready to go swimming. They had a good time.

8 thinngs about my marriage

1. WHERE DID YOU MEET YOUR HUSBAND?
We met through a friend at Hooters. She was going to see R because he was only in town for a little while - in between moving from New Jersey to Arizona and she did not want to go by herself. So she talked another girl and myself to go with her. This was in Sept 2000.

2. WHAT WAS THE FIRST THING YOU SAID TO HIM?
Hello. I really don't remember. I remeber he was very nice and cute.

3. WHERE WAS YOUR FIRST DATE? FIRST KISS?
Our first date was in December of 2001. We had been talking on the phone off and on since September of 2000. We went on a Limo ride around Amarillo with the girl that I met R through and her boyfriend and another guy. We had a really good time. Our first kiss was that night also.

4. DID YOU HAVE A LONG OR SHORT COURSHIP/ENGAGEMENT?
It was pretty short. We got engaged in March 2002 and got married July 2002. Pretty short since R lived in Arizona and I lived in Texas.

5. WHERE DID YOU GET ENGAGED?
We got engaged at Logan's roadhouse, it was my favorite place to eat. We had been shopping all day. He was home from Arizona for a weekend or couple days. We had looked and bought a ring - they had to order the right size so I did not think he would propose that night. We had supper at Logans with both of our parents. He asked my dad for permission then a little later he got up to go to the bathroom and came back with roses and a ring one rose. He had asked the waiter to stand me up on the fireplace edge in the room we were sitting. He walked up to me and asked if I would marry him in front of the resturant. I thought it was fun and I was surprised it happened that day.

6. WHERE DID YOU GET MARRIED?
We got married in Canyon on the West Texas A&M campus in the Chapel. It was simple and I thought it all was pretty.

7. HOW DID THE RECEPTION GO?
I thought the reception went pretty good. We had cake and finger foods. We visited with our friends and family. We even had a birthday party for R's great grandpa. R and I were not able to stay very long because we had to be in Lubbock by a certain time. It was fun.

8. HOW WAS THE HONEYMOON?
It was soo much fun. We went to South Padre Island for a week. We played in the gulf, rode horses, walked up and down the island then we rented a little electric car. My favorite part was going deep sea fishing. We want to do that again some day when the kids are a little older maybe.

DH & I were looking through our pictures this morning and we saw this picture. We took it back in May because it was so pretty. It just reminds us every night we see God's sunset how much He loves us and how awesome He is.

We visited the dinosaur park while we were in Austin. H thought it was very fun. They got to "dig" for dinosaur bones, walk around the park looking for all the dinosaurs and we saw a walking stick which was fun for all of us because we had never seen one. They had a playground and picnic tables and the kids always like going on picnics, although I they really do not want to eat they just want to play. We had a good time and then got to go back to Aunt S house and go swimming.

Helping Nana

While we were in Sunray for VBS K got to help Nana cook, wash dishes and clean. She really enjoys that alot even though she will not eat some of the things she cooks, like fried sqaush. H got to play outside and work on the playhouse and climb the tree and things like that. They really enjoyed going swimming eventhough the water was really cold.

Avalanche Ranch

We had VBS in Abernathy the week of July 16. We all had a very good time. They had a 3 & 4 year old class for K and a the 5 year olds went in with the Kindergarteners so H went with that class. They had the round-up, crafts, avalanche adventure, avalanch theater, chuckwagon, and singing. They enjoyed wearing the cowboy hats they got at registration. The older kids enjoyed on Thursday the dunk tank and blow-up jumping carosel. On Friday they had a carnival with all kinds of games and prizes, face paintings, pop corn, cotton candy and snow cones. Then after the kids were done the parents came for a summary of what had gone on that week, hot dogs and watermelon.

H & K were very good friends with this little girl. They both wanted to sit by her all the time.

H got up on the stage with 2 other boys. They were singing a song about how strong God is.

H really enjoyed ringing the bell on the Gospel Chariot while we were going around town picking the kids up.

We have had Vacation Bible School in Sunray this past week. The kids had a lot of fun and had the opportunity to be with Nana B and Great Papa all week. H and K were in the same class and that worked out very well. They had a Bible story, music, crafts, snack and games. I helped in the nursery and that was pretty fun playing with all the kids. We rode the Gospel Chariot to and from church. The kids enjoyed that although it was pretty hot for them going to the church at 6. They also got to see Bob (the mascot for Sunray).They had a carnival on Friday with hot dogs and all kinds of games to play and prizes to win. They really enjoyed that.

Uncle J and Aunt L got married on June 29. Brother H was the ring bearer and Sister K was the flower girl. They did a very good job. Here are a few pictures. Brother H loves to dance and Sister K loves to do whatever brother H does. Brother R thought the napkins were very good. Aunt S nicknamed him goatboy.

Brother H, Sister K, Brother R and I got to go to Austin to visit with aunt S in Austin for a couple of days. On our way back to Abernathy we stoped at Inflatable World in the Mall at Cedar Park. Brother H ran straight to the toys and knew exactly what he was suppose to be doing. Sister K was not so sure about it at first, by the time it was time to go she was jumping a lot more - as long as Aunt S or I were there to help her up. We had a very good time and the kids did not want to leave. Aunt S and I were ready to leave because there were sooo many people.

Brother H is taking Karate and is really enjoying it so far. He has been in it for about 2 months and recieved his yellow belt on June 25. It was pretty dark in the room so the picture is not very good but his instructor is giving him his certificate. He was very excited and is ready to go all the time.
